“Our past is a story existing only in our minds. Look, analyze, understand, and forgive. Then, as quickly as possible, chuck it.”
~ Marianne Williamson
What a word.
It’s a word I didn’t know much about.
I can remember being a young girl and holding grudges and being proud of it. I learned this from my dad; the silent treatment, the snide remarks, the ignoring and withholding love.
If someone crossed me, well, it was cause for war.
Sometimes it was my little sister who got my goat and did something I thought was horrible. Taking the last cookie on the tray or hiding my favorite doll.
As I got older, I realized that there were deep, confusing, soul-crushing things that were happening in my life, and I just couldn’t overlook the pain. I just couldn’t forgive.
Instead of facing things head on and dealing with ways to forgive, I took things out on my body. My poor, sweet, gorgeous body. Calling her names, ridiculing her.
I wanted my body to change my life.
I wanted to find a scapegoat, and, well, my body was it. I wanted my body to make me happier by being skinny and numb. I didn’t want to feel the pain and eating sure made me feel everything. Therefore, I chose to starve to get rid of all the pain I was carrying inside.
Now I see how my body was my confidant and partner all along.
I have the true power to forgive myself completely.
I’ve been through a lot in my 44 years, and I’m able to stand tall, nourish my body with real, whole foods…to sing in delight of her strength and durability as well as unconditional love.
When I cook wholesome food, I feel as if I’m lovin’ my body up and forgiving myself for hurting her.
Body, mind, spirit acting as one.
I love to make this drink to remind myself to forgive, let go, and move on. It’s all for the higher good after all.
I drink this special smoothie to begin my day. I begin with my spiritual practice that consists of breathing, meditating, and gratitude journaling.
Sipping green goodness feeds my soul, allowing for forgiveness and sunshine to enter my life.
