3 Ways to be Devoted to Yourself Every Day

1. Do What Makes You Happy.

“And I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, ‘If this isn’t nice, I don’t know what is.” ~ Kurt Vonnegut

This is the biggest one, and it’s also the one that so many people ignore or convince themselves isn’t possible.

Doing what makes you happy doesn’t have to mean quitting your day job and starting a business based on your passion.

It’s the little things, the moments, the simple pleasures.

Often, the things that brighten our day the most are so little, they often go unnoticed. Things like watching your favorite show every week. Laughter. Hugs. Petting your dog. Going for a walk on a sunny Autumn afternoon. Your favorite song on the radio.

Make a list of your own personal Happiness Boosters that make your heart smile, and set an intention to do at least one of them every day.

Here’s a list of some of my Happiness Boosters:

Sunshine on my window.
Fresh flowers.
My morning coffee.
My pug.
Binge watching my favourite shows.
Movie marathons.
Big, soft jumpers.
Connecting with my Wild Sisters.
Crafting my weekly Wild Sister newsletters.
Receiving mail from my sponsor girls.
Family dinners.
Long, hot baths.
Brunch dates.
Road trips.
Happy dancing.

You’ll notice that very few of these cost any money, and most don’t even require leaving the house. I do a lot of these every single day, but sometimes I get so caught up in my own head that I miss them completely. That’s why it’s so important to open your eyes to goodness.

2. Give Good Vibes.

“You do not attract what you want. You attract what you are.” ~ Dr Wayne Dyer

The energy we send out comes back to us. It goes out like a signal, calling to it more of that vibration. By raising our vibrations, not only do we feel good, we attract more to feel good about.

How do we raise our vibrations? Do what makes you happy.

Joy, happiness and love are the purest vibes you can get, so cultivate those feelings as much as possible.

Perfect ways to create good vibes are meditation, prayer, music and dancing, laughter, visualizing what you want to happen or remembering happy times, and having an attitude of gratitude.

Give good vibes, and you’ll get good vibes. Simple as that. {Want proof? Read E-Squared.}

3. Live Now.

“Realize deeply that the present moment is all you have. Make the NOW the primary focus of your life.” ~ Eckhart Tolle

Are you plagued by memories and experiences from the past? Or are you a future tripper, constantly projecting your worries onto tomorrow? I’m guilty of doing both.

Slowly, I’m getting better at noticing when I’m living in the past or future and bringing myself back to the present moment. And it’s always such a relief when I do! Learning to be mindful of the now has helped me take control of my thoughts, and always dissolves any anxiety I might be feeling.

Peace lives in this moment, right now.

The now holds the key to freedom – freedom from worry, from past hurts, and from fear.

Being devoted to yourself is soulful, graceful work that can change your life from the inside out. I encourage you to start doing little things each day that bring you closer to yourself and awaken your Spirit.
