Dear Hurting Souls: You Won’t Be Lost Forever.

Recently, I sent an email out to my beloved subscribers. In it, I shared the story of when I hit rock bottom, a time when I was lost and consumed by self-loathing. A time when I was completely shattered and didn’t know how to put myself back together.

Since then, women have been replying with their own stories of heartache and self-loathing. Some, like me, had triumphantly clawed their way out of the darkness, while others are living in the darkness right now.

So often, I find myself trying to find the right words to turn a light on for those struggling in the dark.

All I ever want to do is help women see how brilliant they really are.

So I search for the perfect string of words that will magically change everything for them, that will shift their perception so that they may see themselves the way the Universe sees them.

I’ve never been able to find those magic words.

So, when I was reading those emails I started to put myself back in my own time of darkness, in an attempt to discover the words that I needed to hear back then. I figured if I could find the words that would have turned a light on for me back then, maybe they could help someone now.

Still, the words didn’t come.

I decided to step away from the computer and get offline, because the most powerful inspiration usually finds me when I’m not looking for it.

I’ve learned that having fun and doing things that make me happy open the floodgates to divine inspiration and ideas, so I did one of my favorite things; I went to the movies.

While being enthralled in the awesomeness that is X-Men: Days of Future Past, the words I’d been searching for flew right off the screen.

“Just because someone stumbles and loses their way, doesn’t mean they’re lost forever.”

~ Professor X

I knew instantly that I’d found the words {or rather, they found me} that would have helped me in my darkest time. I’m not ashamed to say I teared up in that moment.

I’m a pro when it comes to finding inspiration and seeing life-changing nuggets of wisdom absolutely anywhere, but I was still blown away by this. I knew I had to write about it.

Lovely, if you’re going through your darkest time right now, if everything feels too hard, too raw, too messed up, too broken to be put back together…

Please, please know that it won’t feel that way forever.

Sometimes the darkness is so overwhelming that it feels like we’ll suffocate before we see a spark of light.

But it will pass, hon.

As Charles Xavier said,

The greatest, wisest, strongest people I know were lost once.

Think of your heroes, all the people who have dramatically changed the world… chances are they were all lost once too.

And even though you’re lost right now, even though you’re frightened, hurt and feeling defeated…

You are still good enough.

You’re still strong enough.

You’re still smart enough.

You’re still brave enough.

You’re still a beautiful, miraculous Divine soul.

Nothing can ever change that.

So. Much. LOVE.
