Sister to Sister: Deanne Kalda

Deanne

Here at Wild Sister, January is a celebration of sisterhood. We’re celebrating our wild sisters and the spirit of sisterhood in three awesome ways:

1. Offering a special subscription price to the Wild Sisterhood. (Offer ends Monday!)

2. Running a huge giveaway. Winners announced at the end of this interview!

3. Showcasing some rockin’ women in my Sister to Sister interview series.

Last week, I introduced you to Shai. Today, I’m continuing that interview series with the always uplifting Deanne Kalda.

One word comes to my mind when I think of Deanne.

V I B R A N T .

Her words, her work, her energy – it all just glows. So today I’ve invited her to shine some her light this way in my latest Sister to Sister interview.

Deanne believes in the profound healing power of aromatherapy and the concept of bio-individuality. Using a very personalised approach, she supports women to restore balance and beauty to their lives in a way that works for them as an individual. Deanne help them connect to nature, eat real nourishing food and nurture themselves on a soul level so they can make the deep life-lasting changes they desire.

Soak up her sunshine and enjoy!

1. Tell us about yourself and what you do…

I’m a Health and Lifestyle Coach, Aromatherapist, Massage and Spa Therapist.

I’ve created a beautiful lifestyle range of organic essential oil blends. I also love creating personalised blends and natural perfumes for my clients .

I’ve been working with aromatherapy in my massage, facial and spa treatments for over 13 years now and I love tweaking treatments to each clients needs.

With my coaching I blend all these wonderful modalities together to help women restore balance and beauty in a way that feels doable and sustainable. I support them to create a healthy happy lifestyle with a deep sense of ease, self kindness and lots of self care. I believe that Soul Food is just as important as diet. By feeding our souls with the things that light us up and energise us we create balance and passion in our lives which leads us to health and happiness.

I can’t tell you how much I love what I do. I feel so lucky to be able to do it, to keep learning more and helping more people along the way.

When I’m not working I’m reading, cooking, walking in nature or perhaps giving myself a pedicure, indulging in a raw cacao treat, good coffee or chilled champagne. I also love animals, photography, sunshine and shoes!

2. One of the things I love about the Wild Sisterhood is how passionate our members are about using their gifts to make a difference in the lives of others. You are a shining example of this. Can you share a bit about your work and how you’re changing the world?

Great question! My work is based on the concepts of bio-individuality, soul food and self care. Bio-individualtiy is a very personalised approach to wellbeing based on the individual and what works best for that person. Soul Food is everything that nourishes us that is not what we eat, for example relationships, movement, creativity, home environment, career, money and spirituality. And self-care is, I believe, the most important and necessary part of life.

If our self-care cup is overflowing we have so much more to give without feeling drained, stressed or overwhelmed.

It’s my hope that with each client we will create a positive impact in their lives which will in turn flow on to create a ripple effect, touching the lives of others around them. I think it’s really important to remember that each small positive change we make can add up to make a huge difference on so many levels – on a personal, family, community and global level.

3. As you know, Wild Sister is a fierce advocate for self-love. How has showing more love, kindness and care to yourself changed your perception of yourself and the world?

More love, kindness and care = more joy, ease, awareness, growth, sense of self, better health and happiness.

The more I give myself, the more I have to give others and I love that. When I let my self-care slip, which I do more often than I care to admit, this is what I come back to.

4. Do you have any go-to self-love or self-care practices for stressful days?

The two self-care practices that I use everyday are meditation and aromatherapy. I choose different oils to wear, inhale and put in my oil burner each day. I also do a nightly 10-15 minute meditation to wind down and relax.

The other thing I do when I find myself feeling stressed or overwhelmed is to remember the ‘one step at a time’ strategy. It’s so much better when you realise you don’t have to have, do or know it all right now.

5. What words of advice would you give to someone just starting out on the self-love journey?

Be kind to yourself.

Surround yourself with like-minded people that lift you up and support you.

Join the Wild Sisterhood.

And allow yourself to be where you are right now.

6. What do you love most about being a Wild Sisterhood member?

I absolutely love the connection and community.

I love the passion of my wild sisters.

I love the sharing and the support that we give each other.

I love the creativity I see from everyone and in so many different ways.

7. How has your daily life changed since joining the Wild Sisterhood?

I feel more connected and have allowed myself to become part of the beautiful community.

I feel, not only inspired, but motivated to keep expanding my business and create the vision I have for my life.

I feel supported and devoted to being me.

8. How are you going to make 2015 your WILDEST year yet?

My big plan for 2015 is moving interstate. I’m so thrilled about this change. I’ll be setting up my business from my new home. My husband and I will be creating a new lifestyle that we love.

I also have exciting plans for my business. I’ll be working on my coaching programs, putting together an outline for an Aromatherapy Lifestyle book and brainstorming some workshops.

And, YES! some travel is on the cards too. Sydney. Paris. LA. Believe it or not I don’t have a current passport right now, so you can only imagine how ecstatic I am about doing some travelling.
