Meet The Wild Sister 'She's The First' Scholars!

A huge part of the Wild Sister mission is to support causes that support women and girls. One of our favourite organizations is She's The First. Here's a snippet of their mission:

"She’s the First sponsors girls’ education in developing nations, giving them the chance to become the first in their families to graduate from secondary school. Ultimately, STF student leaders and scholars become the change agents who break cycles of generational poverty and transform our world."

Currently, with the help of the hundreds of women who took part in our massive Go Love Yourself sale in 2013, we have sponsored the education of 3 girls in the developing world through STF.

Allow me to introduce you to these beautiful souls.

Emuye  –  Ethiopia

Emuye is 14 years old and is currently a sixth grader. She's a part of the Selamta Family Project, and was brought there by her brother, who was worried about her as she was coming into the age where she could be married off. Now they live together with the Selamta family and Emuye is getting the help she needs to continue her education.

Recently, our 2013 Wild Sister of the Year, Kate Lord, traveled to Ethiopia with STF and met Emuye. Here are some photographs Kate took and was kind enough to share with us...

By sponsoring Emuye, we {the amazing Wild Sister community!} are providing Emuye with a year's education, after school tutoring programs, wholesome food, a small savings account, clothing and shoes, medical coverage, and a comfortable home.

Shanti  –  Nepal

Shanti is also 14 and a sixth grader. She loves science, soccer, reading and dancing, and wants to become a nurse when she graduates. She attends Kopila Valley Children's School, where all the students fall into the 'high risk' category for being married off or becoming domestic servants. They are the first off their generation to be educated and literate.

By sponsoring Shanti, we are providing her with a year's education, school uniform, bag and textbooks, school lunches, and medical needs.

Jane  –  Uganda

Jane lives in Uganda, and is currently in her first year of secondary school. Studying 14 subjects, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Agriculture, Commerce, Entrepreneurship and many more, she placed 17 out of 100 students in her class last term – congrats Jane!

Jane is sponsored through Arlington Academy of Hope, a non-proift organization that has partnered with STF. By sponsoring Jane, we are providing her with tuition, meals, uniforms, school supplies and textbooks.

Next Sponsorship Goal: South Sudan

We are in the process of sponsoring a girl in South Sudan, but as the conflict and crisis continues to rise there, all sponsorship programs have had no choice but to be put on hold until it is safe to resume. We are deeply saddened to know that STF scholars have been affected by this ongoing conflict, and hope more than anything that peace will be reached soon.

Thank You!

A huge THANK YOU to you and the worldwide Wild Sister tribe for helping to make this happen.

If you have ever thought about sponsoring the education of girls in the developing world, I highly recommend going through She's The First.

They are helping so many girls be the first in their families to graduate high school, and saving them from being married off or living lives of poverty. I couldn't be prouder or more excited to be partnering with such a brilliant organisation.

They are amazing, kind, compassionate, kickass women with the determination to change the world – true Wild Sisters!

Again, thank you for supporting and buying from Wild Sister, you are helping make this world a better place.
